As explained by BigRep in their article on Thermoforming and Vacuum Forming, these processes involve using heat to shape plastic designs. Thermoforming encompasses vacuum forming, pressure forming, and twin sheet forming, each utilizing molds to shape heated plastic sheets into the desired form.
Pressure forming employs two molds, pressing the plastic sheet in between and then heating it to take on the shape. Twin sheet forming, on the other hand, involves fusing two plastic sheets together to create double-walled or hollow parts.
In the case of vacuum forming, a single mold is used at a time. The process relies on a vacuum, which applies suction to the heated plastic sheet, drawing it around the mold to achieve the desired contour.
